Ex Nigerian coach bags first class at 70-Yr-Old

Former Nigerian Super Eagles assistant coach, Ben Duamlong, 70, has bagged a first class in Painting at the University Of Jos.

Duamlong made the list of 112 students who bagged first class out of 20,532 students that graduated from the university in 2023.

After retiring as a football coach of the national team in 2014, the septuagenarian enrolled in the degree programme out of his passion for art.

When asked what prompted him to go back to school at such an age, he said, “What prompted me to go back to the university at this age is because of my passion for art. All my life, I always draw, but never painted.

“So, after retiring in 2014, as a footballer, I stayed home doing nothing. That is why I decided to go back to school.”

Gwandai, Duamlong’s son, said he was happy with his dad’s performance.

Duamlong was the assistant coach for the Super Eagles during Korea /Japan 2022 World Cup.
