BREAKING: PFN Secretary, Amalambu warns National Assembly against Christian Education Law

The Assistant Secretary of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, South East zone, Rev Blessed Amalambu, has described the Bill, the Act to Establish National Council For Christian Education, which is before the National Assembly, as a time bomb.

He demanded that the Bill be thrown out by the legislators as according to him, passing it into law could threaten the peace and unity of the country and promote persecution.

Amalambu, who made this known in Umuahia while reacting to the news that the Bill had scaled a second reading in the Senate, alleged that freedom to worship and expression would be impeded if the Bill is eventually passed into law and signed for implementation.

He faulted the sponsor of the Bill, Senator Binos Yaroe, for coming up with such material, saying that the country does not need anything that would affect its unity and peace.

He also denied the reports credited to some executives of the national body of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, that state chapters of CAN and other blocs like the PFN were briefed by the national body to endorse the Bill.

Amalambu, who is also the Secretary of PFN in Abia State, berated Christian legislators in the National Assembly for keeping quiet as the Act is gaining ground and warned that they would be held accountable by the people if crises emanates from the proposed law.

He added that most people, especially the Christian community, may not have detailed understanding of the Bill or what it may cause and advised that it is jettisoned for the interest of peace, unity, religious and educational freedom.

“We should critically examine the said Bill before passing it into law.

“How can such a Bill be deliberated through voice notes and zoom meeting?

“I strongly maintain that it was not properly constituted and it has become a worrisome issue in Nigeria.

“As a father of Christian faith, I will not keep quietneither will I stop enlightening the larger society to know the danger that is looming ahead if this bill should be smuggled to pass through the third reading and into the law,” said Amalambu.

The PFN South East zonal Secretary concluded by warning that, “Few purported leaders of CAN should not plunge us into endless struggle and persecution.” CONTINUE READING…………………………………..
