Again, Supreme Court reassures hope of immediate freedom for Nnamdi Kanu

The Supreme Court on Thursday dashed the hope of immediate freedom for the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The court adjourned hearing in the suit filed by Kanu to September 14.

Prior to the adjournment, one of Kanu’s lawyers Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor had expressed optimism that his client will be released today.

“IT IS THE D. DAY. May His Grace speak louder in today’s outing, so that in the end His Name, but no other Name shall take the Glory. May ChukwuOkike take perfect control of the affairs of the day . Iseeee! Iseeee!! Iseeee !!!!

Thank you all and remain blessed. We move,” Ejiofor wrote on Thursday morning.

However, Supreme court dashed all the hopes.

The court did same on 27th April, 2023, when it adjourned the case to May, 11.

Kanu’s Special Counsel had urged the Supreme Court to ensure justice in the trial of his client immediately but the apex court granted leave to the Federal Government to file nine new grounds of appeal on why the IPOB leader should not be released from prison.

A five-member panel of Justices led by Justice John Okoro granted leave while ruling in the motion by the counsel to the federal government, Mr Tijani Gadzali.

The apex court also granted leave to the federal government to include the nine new grounds as part of its amended notice of appeal dated 28th October 2022. CONTINUE READING……………………………
