N22bn Fraud: EFCC Harvest Former Nigerian Power Minister, Sale

THE former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged N22 billion fraud.

Mamman, who was the minister of power from 2019 to 2021, was arrested on Wednesday morning and detained at the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja.

His arrest is reportedly connected to investigations into corruption in the execution of some power projects.

The minister is accused of conspiring with ministry staff in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to divert N22 billion and share among themselves.

The investigations said to have uncovered properties in Nigeria and overseas linked to the suspects, while millions of dollars and naira have reportedly been recovered.
