Buhari Solicits Support For Gov. Adeleke After Supreme Court Verdict

President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has solicited full support for Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State after the Supreme Court upheld his victory in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

VAM News earlier reported that the Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled against the appeal filed by a former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the APC, and affirmed the victory of Governor Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oyetola had asked the apex court to set aside the ruling of the appellate court which nullified the judgment of the election tribunal.

The election tribunal had declared Oyetola as the winner of the election but a five-man panel of the Supreme Court, delivering the judgment held that the Court of Appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor.

Reacting to the apex court ruling, President Buhari on his Twitter handle said the litigation had come to an end and that all hands should be on deck to give Governor Adeleke all the support he needs to govern the state.

Buhari, who is scheduled to leave office on May 29, 2023, said, “With the final decision by the Supreme Court on the July 16, 2022 governorship election in Osun State, all hands should be on deck to provide the @AAdeleke_01 administration all the support needed to implement programmes, policies & plans fashioned to make Osun flourish & succeed.

“The main task at hand is to make the people feel the impact of good governance that guarantees a prosperous, peaceful and stable Osun State.

“Elections should be seen as a path to an end, which is the progress of the people in a peaceful environment, rather than unending bickering. This is the time for inclusion and harmony in Osun State, at the end of litigation.”
