Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has reacted to the the viral report of a revenue collector using his personal account to collect the revenue of the State.
Osun residents have reacted to the viral demand notice by the Ministry of Environment where a shop owner was asked to pay a sum of N5,000 into a private account.
According to a statement by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s spokesperson, the Governor was worried by the conduct of revenue collector and he has ordered overhauling of the revenue collection of the agency.
According to the directive, all revenue collectors must sign a Memorandum of Understanding to be prepared by the Ministry of Justice.
The MOU will spell out detailed modus operandi of activities and governing protocol for all revenue officers.
Governor Adeleke further instructed the affected MDAs to host an emergency meeting of all Revenue consultants to enforce the new directive and discipline erring agents.
While reaffirming his administration’s zero tolerance policy for untoward practices, the Governor promises severe punishment for any revenue agents found to be flaunting standard practices or engaging in sharp practices against the interest of the state.
“Our administration has zero tolerance for corrupt practices. We will sanction heavily, any official found indulging in practices against financial regulations. Immediate reform must be implemented as directed”, the statement concluded.
