VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governorship aspirant for the Kogi election, Senator Dino Melaye, has chided the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike over a recent comment against him.

According to DailyPost report, Governor Wike who addressed journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday claimed that the former lawmaker cannot be Governor of Kogi State.

Wike warned that the PDP would fail if Melaye emerged as its governorship candidate.

According to Wike: “If you give Dino the governorship ticket, you know he will fail; there is no way he can win. Why will Kogi people say they would vote for a candidate like Dino?

“People can’t vote for Dino because he is from Kogi; Dino does not have what it takes to govern the state or be a governor. It’s not by coming on television to act drama or insult Wike.”

Reacting, Dino, in a statement issued on Tuesday said Wike’s rift with him was birthed by his (Dino) inability to support the governor’s presidential ambition.

The statement reads in part, “I can understand the pain of Wike. He wanted my support for his misplaced aspiration to become the Flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2023 Presidential election but knowing his avowed credential to be eminently unworthy of the ticket, I deployed support for His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, a cosmopolitan and cultured statesman who ignored all the tantrums of Wike throughout the period of the election.

“Wike has probably mistaken me for His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. He needs to appreciate that now that he has touched the tiger’s tail and murdered sleep, the discomfort of a bird perched on a rope has now become his portion.
