Lagos announces an end to 50% discount on transportation fare

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

THE Lagos State Government has announced that the 50% discount on transport fare on all regulated buses has ended.

The discount was announced on Feb. 8, 2023. It has now been announced that it will stop by the end of March and the bus fare will return to 100% by April 1, 2023.

Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) announced the news today, March 28, via Twitter.

A circular was first shared by LAMATA but was deleted due to an error in the spelling of “public” as “pubic”.

It was then edited and reshared.

LAMATA announced that the discount was put in place during the cash crunch and will now end following the Supreme Court and Federal Government’s pronouncement that old notes can now be used alongside new ones.
