Valentine’s Day: Osun Governor urges workers to imbibe spirit of love, gives reason

Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has charged workers in the state to let brotherly love continue among them for effective service delivery and productivity.

Senator Adeleke gave the charge today at the 2023 edition of Valentine’s day celebration organized by the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Osun Chapter, held at the premises of Bola Ige house, State Secretariat complex, Abere.

At the epoch making event where a cross section of workers from the nooks and crannies of the State who were dressed in attires commemorating the day gathered together to show love and care among themselves, the Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye said he make bold to say that his Government is already demonstrating its unfettered affection for the State civil servants through prompt payment of salaries, pension and other issues noting that it is just the beginning.

He then promised that they will see more actions and deeds targeted at transforming the service for greater performance.

He declared that his vision is to deliver a public service that is well motivated, empowered and trained to fast track their development agenda. He thanked them for their prayers and professional support for his administration at all times.

Governor Adeleke called on workers to intensify their commitment to the service of the State, adding that the implementation of his 100 days Programme is ongoing emphasising that it must be delivered in various sectors of the state.

The State helmsman however charged workers to as partners for the good of the people, let their service delivery be their Valentine’s gift to the people of Osun State.

Also speaking, the State Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina cleared the air on the erroneous reportage that the event celebration is a new idea by the present administration in the State, stating that the programme is the idea of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Osun Chapter. He stressed that the programme provides an avenue for workers to loose guard and unwind, compete in various games and more importantly, share gift items to the winners in the spirit of the celebration.

The number one civil servant, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr Adelani Aderinola said he hoped that the celebration will foster unity and cooperation among workers who have come from different cultural and religious backgrounds to work together as comrades for the development of the State.

He added that the celebration will serve as a means to motivate officers for optimal performance and enhance productivity in the discharge of their duties.

He later encouraged workers to reciprocate the good gesture of the Governor through punctuality, loyalty, dedication and commitment, urging them to always make the work environment clean at all times.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Chairman, Nigeria Civil Service Union, Osun State Chapter, Comrade Abimbola Arapasopo appreciated the State Governor for graciously approving welfare packages for active and retired workers at both the State and Local Government levels. He noted that in less than 3 months, the Governor has attended to almost 85 percent of workers requests in the State.

He stated further that the NCSU under his watch has embarked on an affordable housing estate christened “Osun Workers Housing Estate” geared towards complementing the efforts of the State Government in making housing affordable to the entire workforce. He explained that the scheme is targeting at least 2,000 housing units in batches in which the official flag-off ceremony will be communicated in due course.

The programme featured: dancing competition as well as games in which the winners were awarded with gifts. The civil servants also presented a gift to Governor Adeleke for being a father of love to workers.
