THE National Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE) Osun State says it has no affiliation with any political party in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.
A statement issued by the NULGE President, Dr. Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, indicates that the executives of the union both at the State and Local government levels are not in support of any purported meeting with any candidate of any political party for the forthcoming Presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly elections.
Ogungbangbe, according to the statement, says the Union always work with any government or candidate who won an election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The statement reads, “I want to categorically state here that NULGE Executives in the State and Local Government chapters do not at any point in time schedule a meeting with any politicians particularly those contesting in the forthcoming general elections in the state”.
“It came to the attention of the State Executives that some people are parading themselves as Executive members of NULGE to meet with some politicians; these people are doing that to make money out of the unsuspecting politicians”.
Ogungbangbe said NULGE remains an apolitical and indivisible entity that will not be partisan in an election, stressing that “we are civil servants that work for any party in government”.
“Myself, as President of NULGE and my other Executive members, are dissociating our members from all the meetings going on with politicians in Osun State, we only pray for a successful conduct of peaceful and credible elections in Nigeria”.
The statement warns those parading themselves as NULGE Executives or members to have meetings with politicians to desist from such act or they will be made to face legal action after arrest.
Ogungbangbe urges members of NULGE in the state to go out during the election and vote for the candidates who will work with the present administration to fast-track development in the state.
