The traditional ruler of Asamokwu community, in Delta State, Obi Okwudiki Odumodu , has been beheaded in a community crisis that resulted from a disagreement over the sharing formula of a derivation fund.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this on Friday in Asaba, said Odumodu was beheaded on Thursday during a crisis that erupted between the two communities in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
VOICE AIR MEDIA News had earlier reported that the hoodlums that beheaded the monarch also ambushed four soldiers and killed three on the spot while others who sustained injuries were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Asaba, as a result causing tension in the community.
But in a new development, the state police PPRO said, “It was community crisis. They are dragging allocation that came from one of the oil companies in that area.
“The monarch was killed at the point of argument between his community and an adjoining community over the sharing formula of a derivation fund.
“The communities are having disputes over the derivation. The two factions are having a disagreement. So, it is community crisis.”
Edefe said that efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy in the community, adding that no suspects have been arrested.
