Tragedy as Gunmen Shoot UNIZIK Lecturer Dead in Akwa

Gunmen have killed Dr. Anthony Eze, a lecturer with Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra state.

It was gathered that Eze, a lecturer with the Faculty of Education at the university, was shot dead Tuesday morning.

According to Daily Post, the lecturer was just driving out of his residence at Ifite Awka, to take his children to school, when the gunmen, suspected to be cultists stormed and opened fire on him.

The source said, “He attempted to flee from them, but he was chased and gunned down by the men.

“We were here this morning when Dr Eze was driving out of his house and suddenly a Toyota Corolla saloon car pulled towards the entrance of his house and when he tried to drive back, they followed him and shot him in the chest. We ran away.

“We later rushed him to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, but the doctor on duty confirmed that he was dead.”

The state police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, when contacted said he was not aware of the incident.
