Men of the Osun state police command have arrested three suspected armed robbers who left Lagos to rob students of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, in Osun state.
Parading the three suspects on Tuesday, the command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola who addressed journalists listed the three suspects as Ahmed Yusuf “M” 25yrs, Azeez Mustapha ‘M’ 26yrs and Akintunde Eniola Sukurat ‘F’ 23yrs.
Opalola said On 27/01/2023 at about 12:15noon, upon information that strange faces were sighted in Ede town, police immediately put investigative mechanism in place and arrested the above suspects who came from Lagos State on 28/1/2023.
She explained that the suspects lodged in a hotel with the aid of one of their girl friends who based in Ede, spied their unsuspecting victims and robbed three student hostels of Federal Polytechnic, Ede and dispossessed them of thirty (30) different brands cell phones worth millions naira belonging to one Abass Muda Abiodun ‘m’ and nineteen (19) others.
“The suspect will be charged to court after the completion of investigation”, Opalola assured.
Narrating how they were arrested, one of the suspects, Azeez Mustapha said after they have robbed the students at around 3:00 am, one of the students overpowered them, raised alarm.
The suspects added that they both of them ran away in different directions, saying “because my friend does not know Ede areas he was arrested and that led to his own arrested and the girl who led them to the town.”
The suspect confessed that before now he has been engaging in phone snatching in Mushin area, Lagos State before coming to Ede where he was arrested.
