Babatunde Fashola has denied making a promise that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will resolve power supply difficulties in six months.
According to multiple sources, in the run-up to the 2015 election, the Minister of Works and Housing pledged that the APC will resolve Nigeria’s electricity problem if elected. The allegations claimed that Fashola asked Nigerians to “stone” him if the pledge was not fulfilled.
However, the minister denies making such a claim, calling it as a “lie that I allowed.” Monday on Channels Television’s election show The 2023 Verdict, Fashola stated, “One of the things that have been mentioned about me is that I said we will electrify Nigeria in six months.” Since I requested my media men to replay the tape, the falsehood has ceased to exist.
The minister stated that he could not have made the remark because its tone did not reflect his nature. “I am aware that I don’t employ stone-like language in my speech. I am not even a violent person. Stone is violent. I do not employ such terminology. They do not exist in my vocabulary,” he said.
