PVC collection: OSUN REC, AGBOKE pays visit to INEC Centres, warns staff against flouting electoral laws

THE Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Wasiu Oladele Agboke on Monday, January 9, 2023 embarked on tour of INEC centres accross the Wards for an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).

Dr Agboke began the tour with his team to the Salvation Army in the Osogbo Local Government at Alekuwodo.

The INEC representative told the REC that only five PVCs was collected as at the time we visited at about 1.30pm and only eight was collected in the Osogbo LGA the previous day.

The entourage visited ADENLE GRAM SCH. at Ayetoro, Osogbo ward 8, Olorunda LGA with little improvement in the collection of PVC. As at the time we visited at 2pm, 22 PVCs was collected while only eight was collected the previous day.

The last Ward visited was WARD 10,
Young Tajudeen Primary School, Okinni Egbedore LGA where many people trooped out to collect their PVCs The INEC representatives told the REC that 19 was collected on Friday, 55 collected on Satuday while 30 PVCs was collected as at 2.30pm when we visited.

Two of the eligible voters interviewed testified that they collected their PVCs less than five minutes. They encouraged other eligible voters who are yet to collect theirs to go for it in order to fulfill their franchise and vote candidate of their choice in the forthcoming elections.

Agboke said people should take the advantage of the nearness of Collection Centres to collect their PVCs.

He said the opportunity of bringing the collection of the PVCs at the Ward Level will lapse on January 15 after which it will go back to the Local Government Areas on January 16 and the window of collection will close finally on January 22, 2023.

Dr. Agboke went spiritual to hand over the entire 2023 general elections to Almighty God with his staff at the Olusegun Agbaje Media Office to see the commission through without any record of death, thuggery, rigging or violence in the state during and after the forthcoming general elections.

At the forum, the REC warned all his staff not to be involved in any shaddy deals with the politicians before, during and after the election.

He said he has been going round to warn and sensitize all INEC staff before the election day, and that on election day he will be looking for the culprits who will flout the electoral law. He said any erring Corpers or members of staff found wanting will be detained.
