BREAKING: Tears as PDP Reps Candidate Dies After US Trip

VOICE AIR MEDIA

Abba Muhammed Bello, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the house of representatives, has been reported dead.

Although the circumstances surrounding his death are still sketchy, Bello was said to have died on Friday in Abuja, after returning from the United States where he went to check on his father and the former PDP acting national chairman, Dr Muhammed Haliru Bello, who has been sick for a while.

He was the PDP candidate for the Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza federal constituency of Kebbi state for the national assembly election scheduled to take place on February 25.

Bello won the ticket in the primary election conducted in May 2022, defeating Mohammed Bello-Yakubu, his closest challenger.

Bello’s demise comes a few hours after the death of Mathew Akawu, PDP candidate for Pengana constituency in Plateau state house of assembly.

In a social media post on Friday, Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, described their demise as “big blows to the PDP”.

“I’m saddened by reports of the loss of PDP house of assembly candidate for Pengana constituency, in Plateau state, Matthew Akawu and Abba Bello, our house of representatives candidate for Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza constituency in Kebbi state.

Abba Bello is the son of Bello Haliru, former national chairman of PDP,” Abubakar wrote.

“Akawu and Bello’s demise are big blows to the PDP, especially at this time their experiences, commitments, and resilience are needed to steer the party to victory in their various constituencies and our country at large.

“On behalf of my family and the PDP presidential campaign team, I offer my deepest condolences to their families and constituents. I pray to Almighty God to forgive their sins and grant their souls eternal rest.”
