Abeere Ede/Abeere Osogbo: Open letter to Gov. Ademola Adeleke

Author: Prince Adeniyi Adebayo (Akanni Omooba)

His Excellency, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke

The Executive Governor of Osun State.

HE Sir,
LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR
ABERE: OSOGBO VS EDE LAND SCUFFLE

I am writing to implore HE. to reconsider any proposal to concede the Abere land to Ede town. It is my belief that this land should be granted to Osogbo town, the state capital, rather than to Ede.

I would not like to dive into the issue of who is the original owner of the land just yet, but leave it to the appropriate elders to slug it out. But I would like to address the several compelling reasons why Osogbo is a more suitable recipient of the Abere land.

Firstly, as the state capital, Osogbo plays a crucial role in the governance and development of the entire state. It is home to numerous vital government agencies and institutions, and is a center of economic activity. By granting the Abere land to Osogbo, you would be supporting the growth and advancement of the town and its people.

Secondly, Osogbo has a larger and more diverse population than Ede. This means that the land would be put to better use and benefit a greater number of people if it were granted to Osogbo. Furthermore, Osogbo has a rich history of cultural and economic ties to the Abere land, which would be further enhanced by this decision.

Finally, I believe that Osogbo is better equipped to handle the responsibilities and challenges that come with owning and developing the Abere land. The town has the necessary infrastructure and resources in place to effectively manage and utilize the land for the benefit of its residents. Conceding the Abere land to Ede can only mean one thing, which is that Ede is now the state capital of Osun State and not Osogbo.

In conclusion, I urge HE. with the utmost sincerity to reconsider the proposal to concede the Abere land to Ede town. I implore you to grant it to Osogbo, the state capital and maintain status quo, instead. I am confident that this would be in the best interests of the state, and would support the growth and development of Osogbo, Osun State and its people.

Here are several additional reasons why the office of the governor should be situated at the state capital, Osogbo, and not Ede a neighboring town:
Centralization of government functions: By locating the governor’s office at the state capital, all government functions can be centralized in one place. This makes it easier for citizens to access government services and for government agencies to collaborate and work together.
Improved efficiency: Having the governor’s office at the state capital allows for easier communication and coordination among government officials and agencies. This can lead to improved efficiency and decision-making processes.

Symbolic importance: The presence of the governor’s office at the state capital symbolizes the importance and central role of the capital in the state. It also serves as a symbol of the unity and cohesion of the state.

Economic benefits: The presence of the governor’s office at the state capital can bring economic benefits to the capital city, such as increased job opportunities and economic development.

Accessibility to the governor: By locating the governor’s office at the state capital, citizens from all parts of the state have equal access to the governor and can easily petition or seek an audience with him or her.

In summary, the office of the governor should be situated at the state capital to centralize government functions, improve efficiency, symbolize the importance of the capital, bring economic benefits, and ensure accessibility to the governor for all citizens.

Thank you for considering my views on this crucial matter.
Sincerely,
Prince Adeniyi Adebayo (Akanni Omooba).
