The presidency has been a lifelong goal for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate.
In order to achieve this, Atiku swore to keep fighting until he is elected president of Nigeria.
The PDP presidential contender told Financial Times that he would continue to pursue his goal as long as he was still alive and fit.
“It is a life-long ambition and as long as I’m alive and strong and healthy, I will continue pursuing it,” Atiku said.
One of the leading contenders for the 2023 presidential election is the former vice president.
The Waziri of Adamawa is commonly thought to have been running for president ever since he resigned in 1992 to make way for MKO Abiola.
During the last presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari defeated him to retain power.
However, mixed feelings have continued to trail Atiku’s 2023 presidential pursuit, as some believe that he has no chance while others feel he is better positioned to win.
