Argentina scrapes through to the World cup Semi-Final In what seems like a tooth-and-nail match against the Netherlands.
Argentina defeated the Netherlands in a penalty shootout, 4-3, as the game went into extra time.
The match dragged on to penalty shoot-out in which Argentina knocked out the Netherlands to a 4-3 scoreline
Argentina maintained it’s lead thanks to a game-changing no-look pass from Messi in the 35th minute of the first half, which enabled Nahuel Halina in scoring his maiden goal for the National Team.
Argentina doubles their lead in the 73rd minute of the game when Messi scores from the penalty spot sending Netherlands goalkeeper Noppert the wrong way.
A double from Burnley striker W. Weghorst put Netherlands back in the game, making it 2-2.
In the 87th minute of the second half, a fight results in a booking for Parades for fouling Nathan and sending the ball to the bench. Steven Bergwijn also received a booking for leading a charge against Leandro Paredes from the bench.
Weghorst put a goal pass to the Argentina goalkeeper in the 83rd minute which was assisted by Berghuis and at the death of the game through an amazing set piece Weghorst slid through the Argentina defense to double his goal extending the match to extra time.
Argentina then went on to beat Netherlands on penalty kicks at the 2022 World Cup and will play against Croatia for a place in the final.
