Days after his inauguration, Gov. Adeleke begins reconstruction of Adeleke Varsity road, Ede

…orders contractor to complete project in record time

It is crystal clear that infrastructural development has begun to wear a new look in Osun State as Governor Ademola Adeleke commenced immediate reconstruction of Adeleke University road, Ede.

It was reported that the road which had been abandoned for years since the establishment of the institution has begun to witness a massive reconstruction few days after the inauguration of Governor Adeleke.

The Adeleke University road which had been in a deplorable condition was left untarred inspite the humongous tuition fees and other administrative charges being paid by prospective applicants and students of the institution.

It was gathered that moves by the management of the institution to get the road fixed through external support, proved abortive.

However, shortly after his inauguration, Governor Adeleke awarded contract for immediate reconstruction of the road, with a marching order that the road must be completed within a record time.

A visit to the ongoing road reconstruction revealed that sizeable part of the road had been tarred and completed as work still ongoing.

Meanwhile, mixed reactions have continued to trail the Adeleke’s decision to begin his infrastructure development from the University owned by his elder brother, Deji Adeleke, with many quering why the new governor would use State government funds to finance a family project.

Some of the residents along the axis where the institution is situated were of the opinion that inspite the good thing the rehabilitation of the road would bring it was important to challenge the government as to why the public fund was being used to finance the family property.

One of the residents who preferred anonymity disclosed that the rehabilitation of the road was deliberately delayed in order to use the state funds to finance it, saying such act could be better described as ‘nepotism of the highest order’.

The source who questioned the owner of the University for his failure to rehabilitate the road before now, said the act had shown clearly that the present administration does not mean well for the state and it is prioritising selfish interest.

According to him, the execution of such a project at this critical moment was a clear manifestation that the incumbent Governor was sponsored by the family to strengthen their empire and further enrich the Adeleke’s dynasty as being demonstrated in some of the actions being taken so far.

He said aside from the fact that fixing the road is the primary responsibility of the family whose the success or otherwise of their investment lies on the condition of the road, it is also pertinent to know that doing so would have been regarded as a corporate service which would have gone a long way to stimulate the socio-economic activities of the people in the domain.
