Police operatives in Kano have arrested eight suspects for various electoral offences ranging from unlawful possession of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), causing mischief by fire, inciting disturbances, causing grievous hurt, theft among others.
Spokesperson for Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa said in a statement that the suspects have been arraigned in court for the various offences they were arrested for.
He listed the arrested suspects and the courts they were arraigned as:
i. Aminu Ali, ‘m’ of Yautar Arewa, Gabasawa LGA Kano State for unlawful possession of voters cards and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano
ii. Zailani Adamu, ‘m’ of Dadin Kowa Village, Doguwa LGA Kano for Inciting Disturbance and charged to Magistrate Court 24 Gyadi-Gyadi Kano
iii. Shafi’u Abdulrahman (Kabesi), ‘m’ of Gawuna Quarters, Nassarawa LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Grievous Hurt, Mischief and Theft, and charged to Court 52 Nomansland Kano
iv. Abdullahi Usaini, ‘m’, of Falali Village, Takai LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Mischief by Fire and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano
v. Sa’idu Umar, ‘m’, of Falali Village, Takai LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Mischief by Fire and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano
vi. Rabi’u Muhd, ‘m’; of Falali Village, Takai LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Mischief by Fire and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano
vii. Isyaku Yusuf, ‘m’, of Hausawa Quarters Kano for Defamation of Character and charged to Upper Shari’a Court Brigade Quarters Kano
viii. Shafi’u Abdulrahman, ‘m’ of Gawuna Quarters Kano for Criminal Intimidation and Inciting Disturbance, and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano.
“The Commissioner of Police appreciates the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation.
“He urged residents to continue to pray for the State, and the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands.
“Raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in Kano State.
