Qatar out, Netherlands, Ecuador, England, USA all draw with Iran upsetting Wales

Qatar are rooted to the bottom of Group A with one game to play and became the first team to be knocked out of the competition after the Netherlands avoided defeat against Ecuador later on Friday.

Boulaye Dia (41) and Famara Diedhiou (48) struck either side of half-time to put Senegal in control as they set about responding to their opening-night defeat to the Netherlands.

Mohammed Muntari pulled one back (78) with a historic first goal at a World Cup finals for Qatar, but the hosts’ unlikely comeback lasted just six minutes as Ahmadou Dieng restored Senegal’s two-goal lead (84).

Netherlands and Ecuador drew 1-1 in their second Group A game at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Cody Gakpo’s second of the tournament put the Dutch ahead before Enner Valencia equalized for the South American nation.

The result means neither side has yet qualified for the last 16.

While in Group B match between Iran and Wales, the match ended with two goals to nothing in favor of Iran.

Stoppage-time goals from substitute Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian gave Iran a deserved 2-0 World Cup win over 10-man Wales in Group B.

Iran were hammered 6-2 by England in their opening game but were a side transformed after head coach Carlos Queiroz made five changes.

A key moment arrived in the 86th minute when Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was sent off for a brutal challenge on Mehdi Taremi.

Iran had dominated the second half up until that point, and Cheshmi and Rezaeian finally made it count deep into stoppage time to prompt emotionally charged celebrations.

Later in the Night, England played out a goalless draw with the USA which put England on top of their group with four points and the USA behind with two points.

Tunisia will face Australia in group D, and Poland will be playing against Saudi Arabia in Group C in today’s World Cup fixture. France is up against Denmark in Group D while Argentina battles it out with Mexico in Group C.
