Election: Govt Declares Friday Public Holiday

THE Kedah government in Malaysia has declared November 18 and 19 public holiday in conjunction with the 15th General Election (GE15) polling day this Saturday.

State Secretary Datuk Norizan Khazali said the decision is in line with the earlier announcement by caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to encourage people to cast their vote in the polls.

“The public holiday, which falls on Nov 18, 2022 (Friday), is to be replaced on the next working day which is Nov 20, 2022 (Sunday),” he said in a statement today.

On Sunday, Ismail Sabri declared Nov 18 and 19 public holidays to encourage the people to carry out their responsibility and vote on polling day on Saturday.

A total of 21,173,638 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots at 9,536 polling centres around the country in this election.

They will vote for elected representatives at 222 parliamentary constituencies and 116 states seats in Perlis, Perak and Pahang. CONTINUE READING…
