Commotion in Akure as Tricycle operator beats colleague to death

Commotion hits Akure on Sunday as a yet-to be identified tricycle operator was beaten to death by a colleague in Oke-Aro Community area of Akure south local government, the Ondo state capital.

It was gathered that the two men engaged in a fierce fisticuffs as one of the blows hit the deceased in a delicate spot that made him collapse.

According to the Hope, the tricycle rider was rushed to a nearby hospital on Saturday where he later gave up the ghost in the early hours of Sunday.

The circumstances surrounding his death was quite sketchy as the name of the hospital where he was taken was not disclosed.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Funmilayo Odunlana disclosed that the two tricycle riders engaged in hot argument which led to the death of the other.

“The man was rushed by people around the vicinity of the fight.

“The victim collapsed as a result of the fight on Saturday and was confirmed dead early this morning at the hospital.

The case was reported at our ‘B’ Division area Headquarters in Akure”, she stated.
