Just In: One Killed, Many Injured As Maulud Procession Turns Violent In Niger State

One person was killed and scores of others injured when a Maulud procession turned violent in Chanchaga community in Minna, the Niger State capital.

 

It’s gathered that the incident happened on Saturday evening when youths confronted one another with cutlasses and other weapons during the procession.

 

When contacted, the police command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said, “During the annual Maulud procession around the Central Mosque, Chanchaga, miscreants invaded the venue with weapons such as cutlasses, swords and sticks and attacked worshipers.”

 

Abiodun said four persons were injured who were taken to the IBB Specialist Hospital and that one person was later confirmed dead.

He said police patrol teams were drafted to the scene and six suspects had been apprehended with weapons while effort was ongoing to arrest fleeing members of the miscreants. CONTINUE READING………………………………………….
