Mbah: I will address all bottlenecks in supply chain of water to Enugu metropolis

Dr Peter Mbah, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu has vowed to tackle the perennial water challenge ‘once and for all” with 130,000 cubic litres of water daily.

Mbah said this in Enugu on Tuesday when he met with a cross-section of Enugu residents as part of his campaign tour during which he unveiled his “Statement of Purpose” to the people.

He said that ‘water is life’, adding that if elected, his administration would embark on an aggressive campaign to provide water to the city of Enugu, other towns and rural communities within the state.

The PDP candidate said he plans to bring in private sector investment as well as water experts to revive the water sector, by addressing the mechanical and electrical concerns in getting steady water in the state.

According to him, “we will address all bottlenecks in the supply chain of water to Enugu metropolis, including repair and optimization of all pumping sub-stations along the route.”

Mbah also said that his administration would inspect the existing water lines within the urban areas and address any cases of pipe breakages and failed pipes or valves.

“The water resource centre has three arms; upstream, midstream and downstream. The upstream has to do with the water supply.

“The midstream focuses on how pipelines convey water from source to storage. We understand that this needs a sufficient power supply to function effectively.

“The downstream will require us to replace the faulty pipes in order to address the challenges there,” the PDP candidate said.

Mbah said he would set up boreholes in the rural areas to ensure the availability of water in those areas.

He said that the proximity between the boreholes and the houses of the residents in localities should not exceed a five-minute walk.

“Enugu State has the capacity to produce 130,000 cubic litres of water and this would be enough for Ndi (People) of Enugu,” he added. CONTINUE READING………………………..
