“No More Open Defecation” – Osun CSDA Commissions VIP Toilet, Others Among 18 Micro Projects In Communities

Among the 18 Micro Projects commissioned by the Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) in the rural communities, in its humanitarian drive to cushion the effect of COVID-19 in the life of citizens in Osun state, witnessed the construction of a block of Eight (8) Rooms VIP Toilet at Ifelodun-Awosuru community Osogbo, Osogbo L.G.A.

Voice Air Media reports that on Tuesday, Iragbiji in Boripe local government, Osogbo area of the state received the Osun COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic stimulus (OSUN-CARES), a partnership of the State government, and assisted by the World Bank.

Other projects commissioned; The birth of rehabilitation and equipping of three rooms laboratory consists of Chemistry lab, Physics lab, Biology lab in N.U.D college Isale Oyo community, Iragbiji; classrooms building at N.U.D school, Isale Oyo, Iragbiji; Handpump Borehole at Dada-Oga community, Osogbo.

Speaking on the rehabilitation and equipping of science laboratory, Abokede mentioned how essential the laboratory rooms are for science students as science is a practical course.

“Science deals with practical, this project will help, enhance functional education in our state. The essence of commissioning this project is to ensure that these projects are completed and functional.

She also touched on the commissioning of a water project, she said;

” Water is very important to health, it restores healthy living among our people, hygiene and when talking about Covid, we talk about washing our hands regularly. The water project has benefited our people in many ways.

“No more Open defecation, and hygienic problems around us. People can now go to the toilet to ease themselves”

She encouraged beneficiaries to manage and utilize the use of these projects.

“Many thanks to our governor Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola for making funds available and in which the world bank has added to it for this intervention and it’s facing just four sectors; The health, water, education, and food/Nutrition sector”, She concluded.

Osun CSDA, Mrs Funmi Abokede accompanied by the Coordinator of OSUN-CARES, Mrs Yetunde Esan and other staff of the Agency.

Speaking with Voice Air Media, Joseph Iyiola Olabode, the chairman of Iso-Pako, Ifelodun-Awosuru, Osogbo described how happy he is about the project:

“I am so happy for this project, though I am sick now I have been healed because I am happy for what Oyetola did for us

Mrs Adefayo Fausat the principal of NUD grammar school Oke-baale, Osogbo assured the effective usage of the facility:

“First of all, I will soon be leaving, I will be leaving by November but I will make sure that everything is okay and even the principal that will replace me, we’re going to make use of the facility judiciously.

It is a good project, she added.

While reacting to commissioning of Water Project

Adebayo Muritala, the chairman of Imosokan vulnerable group, Olorunda, Osogbo Local Government chapter appreciated the hands behind the project completion.

” We thank our Governor, we are always happy anytime we come across him, our mind is always at rest whenever we hear about him.

“All Communities, Boluwaduro market, and this environment are benefiting from this water project, May God grant your heart desires, and you will attain bigger heights. As you open this, you will surely open bigger things in your life.

“Everyone present, our children thank you for giving us this opportunity to benefit from this water project, we also appreciate the general manager Mrs Funmi Abokede, the staff, and the government employees, may the Lord be with you all.

On water project

Comrade Lateef Olalekan, secretary to Imosokan vulnerable group Olorunda, Osogbo Local Government chapter added his view on the commissioned project;

“He has done a lot for people with disability and we continue to appreciate him, may the Almighty God continue to support his government and those who facilitated this project especially the CSDA in the person of the GM that made this program come to reality, I also want to appreciate the entourage that follows us to commission this water project this afternoon, thank you very much.

“It has a lot of impacts, particularly, communities these days are suffering from water accessibility but now they are getting access to the water and the water is making it possible for us now. It contributes to our development particularly our business, even in domestic chores. We really appreciate this kind gesture.

School project

The Headmistress of N.U.D school, Iragbiji, Mrs Adekanmi Monsurat Olanrewaju, glorifies the development project by Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.

Her words:

“We appreciate Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola for counting us among the development project in which two blocks of classroom were erected here in our school, I am using this moment to pray to God to clear his paths from mishaps, may his offspring encounter kindness and mercy.

“We need more teachers, we urge the government to see to this as the numbers of teachers here in our school is very low, and the total number of students from primary one up to primary six is 235, she added.

From Osun State Governor

At the event, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola represented by the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Adesegun Olanibi, commended the good works of the Osun CSDA for ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots and also appreciated the World Bank for its prompt intervention towards the projects.

Oyetola, in his message; “I, therefore, appreciate Osun CSDA which is an agency of the state government for the good work the agency is doing in ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots

“I must also thank the World Bank for a prompt intervention to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and make life more meaningful for the citizens of this state.”

In Commissioner’s word

Adesegun Olanibi, Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, while speaking to newsmen said Governor Oyetola is working for betterment of all citizens in the state.

“The progressive government in our state, especially this present administration led by Gboyega Oyetola are working assiduously for the betterment of the state”, Commissioner said.

Also, the honorable commissioner, accompanied by the Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Rural Development and Community Affairs, Olabamiji Mumuni, in the same vein, encouraged the beneficiaries to maintain the good use of these projects.

He appreciated the Osun CSDA for its assiduous work.

Also on Wednesday, Osun CSDA commissioned water at Ibokun in Ibokun local government and a health center in Okeyelu, in the Olorunda local government area of the state.
