How kidnappers told abductees to pay ransom from sold house in Kwara

Two persons kidnapped at Gaa Olobi community at Okoolowo area of Ilorin, Kwara State, have reportedly regained their freedom after they were forced to pay for ransom from proceeds of the house they sold.

The abductees, one Kazeem Asalapa and his daughter in-law, were abducted penultimate week.

A resident of the community, Mr Saka, told City & Crime that the negotiation process exposed the depth of information the abductors had before any operation.

He said, “They initially demanded N100m, but we said we can’t afford it. Then they reduced it to N50m, until it got to N1m for the two victims. When we said we didn’t have money, they told us that they would kill the victims because they were aware we recently sold a house and so should pay the ransom from that.”

Saka, who revealed that the money was taken to the abductors inside a forest, said the abductors were communicating with somebody on phone who was giving them information about their victims.

The spokesman of the Kwara command, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed their release, however, said he was not aware of the payment of any ransom. CONTINUE READING……………………..
