Mr. Malcolm’s List (2022): Movie Review

Plot: Seeking true love. Conditionally.

When she fails to meet an item on his list of requirements for a bride, Julia Thistlewaite is jilted by London’s most eligible bachelor, Mr. Malcolm. Feeling humiliated and determined to exact revenge, she convinces her friend Selina Dalton to play the role of his ideal match. Soon, Mr. Malcolm wonders whether he’s found the perfect woman…or the perfect hoax.

Review: Jeremy Malcolm is a very eligible bachelor because to his attractiveness and inherited fortune. The advantage of being the object of desire for every woman he encounters, however, is somewhat taxing.

It implies that he has to defend himself continuously from would-be rich. In an early scene, Julia Thistlewaite and his miserable date at the opera are depicted. He immediately rejects her because of her lack of sophistication in the world.

He yawns her presence at one point, causing a small scandal of rumors that led to the circulation of a caricature of a rascally-appearing Julia around the town.

The focus of the opening scene of the movie is Julia, whom Mr. Malcolm has invited to the opera. Early on in their evening, the rumor mill claimed that the couple was attractive.

But when Julia misinterprets Mr. Malcolm’s query regarding a contentious topic, the favorable attitude swiftly turns negative.

Instead of affecting the financial security of British farmers, in her opinion, the Corn Laws are related to diets. The following morning, Julia is the target of merciless teasing across the city.

Julia takes action as a result of Mr. Malcolm being rejected and the ensuing backlash. To find out why Mr. Malcolm never called her, she asks her cousin Lord Cassidy for help.

And it’s through the diffident lord’s search that a determined Julia finds out about Mr. Malcolm’s list of qualities required for his perfect woman.

Selina, a friend from their youth, is invited by Julia to travel to London and pay her a visit. After all these years, Selina is excited to finally meet Julia, whom she has been writing since they first met as schoolgirls at Mrs. Finch’s Ladies Academy.

Julia’s strategy to punish Mr. Malcolm is set in motion by Selina’s entry.

Selina starts receiving training to become Mr. Malcolm’s ideal woman as soon as she pulls up at Julia’s opulent London manor.

Mr. Malcolm and Selina get closer as they get to know one another. The two leisurely stroll around museums and opulent gardens.

They joke around about politics and art before transitioning into more somber discussions about love and grief.
