Members of a family comprising father, Mathew Olabiyi, 50, his wife, Taye Olabiyi and daughter, Abidemi have been docked at an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting one Sgt David Ogundeyi by beating him and tearing his Police uniform.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olusegun Adegboye, told the court that Olabiyi, his wife and daughter on Aug. 28, at about 9:30 a.m. at Oshodi Str, Felele area, Ibadan, conspired to beat Sgt Ogundeyi and also tore his uniform
He added the defendants allegedly damaged Ogundeyi’s Techno Pop 3 cell phone valued at N45,000 .
Adegboye said the defendants allegedly conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by fomenting trouble, harassing and embarrassing Sgt. Ogundeyi.
The police charged the defendants on four counts of conspiracy, assault, malicious damage and manner likely to cause breach of peace.
He said the offence contravened the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Idowu, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the matter until Nov. 8 for definite hearing. CONTINUE READING………………
