Police have arrested seven people in Yobe suspected of involvement in burglary and theft.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Friday in Damaturu that the suspects specialised in housebreaking.
According to him, they were arrested from different parts of the state following complaints from communities on incessant burglary, theft and other related crimes.
Abdulkarim said all the suspects have confessed to the crime and led the police to recover some stolen properties from different locations.
He added that the police had arrested a number of people who bought the stolen properties.
The command spokesman said all the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
Abdulkarim listed the items recovered to include foodstuffs, television sets, power generators, wrappers, blankets, mobile phones, receivers, gas cookers, carpets among others.
“The command advised the general public to be conscious of buying items from suspicious sources,” he added.
He assured that the Police would not relevant in the effort to flush out criminals from the state and sought citizens’ support.
Several burglars have been arrested by the police in recent times in connected with breaking into houses and stealing properties of residents. CONTINUE READING………..
