No fewer than Four persons were injured in the gun deal that broke out between operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, on Thursday.
The crisis ensued when the men of the NDLEA arrested a driver of a bus, who was allegedly tracked to Osogbo for carrying drugs.
It was gathered that the commercial bus was followed from outside Osun State to Lagos Park, Old Garage, Osogbo.
Dailypost while contacting the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babayemi said miscreants in the garage came out with bottles, cutlasses, and guns and attacked his men during the arrest of a driver that was carrying a consignment.
He said, “There was intelligence that a particular vehicle is bringing drugs to Osogbo, so, today, they followed the vehicle to a particular garage, to see who the consignment will be delivered to. At one point, they tracked the vehicle to the garage and arrested the driver.
“So, at the time they arrested the driver, it raised alarm and the miscreants in the garage came out with bottles, cutlasses, and guns and our command was able to contact the CP for reinforcement, which was provided and in an attempt to withdraw from the scene, there was conflict.”
He confirmed that four persons were injured and have been taken to the hospital.
