2027 Presidential: Osun Leaders Across Party Lines Unite for Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

Prominent political figures across political party lines in Osun State converged on Osogbo on Thursday for the inauguration of the Osun State chapter of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council 2027.

The event was attended by former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande; Governor Ademola Adeleke; former Senator Babajide Omoworare; Senator Iyiola Omisore; APC national secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru; Mrs. Titi Laoye-Ponle; Professor Sola Adeyeye; Prof. Wale Oladipo; Comrade Adeboye Adebayo; Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun; Osun State Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye; Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye; Professor Olu Aina, Kolapo Alimi, Akanni Olohunwa, chairmen and members of the APC, Accord Party, PDP and other stakeholders.

The council is a coalition structure comprising members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party, established to coordinate support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

In his remarks, Chief Bisi Akande described the initiative as a noble cause for the Yoruba race and commended Governor Adeleke for leading the assignment. He described the governor as courageous for accepting the responsibility of coordinating the council despite political differences among stakeholders.

Also speaking, Senator Ajibola Basiru called on stakeholders to set aside personal differences and ambitions and support the president’s re-election bid. He urged members to drop egos and individual interests and support Governor Adeleke in leading the campaign team. Professor Sola Adeyeye also expressed support for the initiative.

In his address, Governor Adeleke called for unity and brotherhood among stakeholders and urged them to work together to deliver for President Tinubu. He noted that while members of different parties would continue to pursue their respective interests in other elections, they should cooperate on the presidential campaign.

“It is my honour and privilege to inaugurate the Osun Presidential Campaign Council,” Adeleke said.

The governor also disclosed that discussions aimed at resolving the local government dispute in Osun State had reached an advanced stage, although he did not announce a final resolution.
