The Kano State Consumer Protection Council has confiscated no fewer than 487 sacks of expired flour at a warehouse located in Dawanau market in the metropolis.
This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Musbahu Yakasai, and issued to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
According to Yakasai, the Acting Managing Director of the Council, Dr. Baffa Dan’Agundi, disclosed this in his office immediately after the evacuation of the flour on Sunday.
Dan’Agundi said some good citizens of Kano tipped the council with the information about the flour which was brought to Dawanau market for sale to people.
He added that the council confirmed that the flour has already expired after having a laboratory test of some samples.
He said the agency had also confiscated many cartons of different kinds of drinks at Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi Market, Sabon Gari that were found to be expired and being sold to people.
He said all the expired flour and the drinks were evacuated and taken to the council’s warehouse.
