The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has urged Nigerians to elect the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)’s successor based on competence and credibility and not lay emphasis on his religious beliefs in the 2023 election.
The group’s National President, Abdulrafiu Sanni, made this appeal, according to a statement on Monday, during a press briefing to herald its 10th triennial national conference.
Sanni noted that the challenges before the country required that anyone that must take over from Buhari must be an individual that understands governance and can turn around the economy to reduce unemployment.

“Nigerians need to return to the era when leaders were picked without emphasis on religious affiliation if they desired the country to surmount challenges that had affected Nigeria’s ability to compete favorably with its peers globally.

Sanusi also disclosed that the upcoming national conference would be attended by the Minister of Aviation, Dr Hadi Sirika, among others.
“The Minister of Aviation, Dr. Hadi Sirika, had been chosen to deliver a lecture at the conference on June 24, as well as the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and before that date, part of the activities lined up for the three-day event include a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu,” he said.
