On Monday, 25th April, proceedings into the murder trial of Timothy Oludare Adegoke an OAU’s postgraduate student who died at Hilton Hotels, Ile-ife, Osun State in November 202, has been been adjourned following sudden sickness suffered by Magdalene Chiefuna, the second defendant in the matter.
The matter was slated for the defendants to open their defence today following the closing of the prosecution case in March.
At the resumed trial around 9:05am in the Osun state Judiciary high court, Osogbo, the learned silk for the defendants and the state counsel was arguing over the propriety of handing over the case to the Human Right Activist lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), who appeared in court when the second defendant suddenly slumped.
Our correspondent gathered that the defendant(She) was coughing repeatedly before court clerks and corrections officials rushed to her rescue.
The Judge quickly adjourned the matter shortly to allow the defendant to be attended to.
Shortly, after the resumption of the court following the agreement reached by the lawyers assigned by state Attorney general to resolve to lead the matter in Court, by Femi Falana(SAN), the Counsel to the 2nd defendant, Rasheed has requested for medical attention to his dependant.
The hilltop hotel was owned by Dr. Rahman Adedoyin who is standing trial with six others over the murder case.
Recalled that Adedoyin and six others were remanded in Ilesa Prison at the commencement of the trial few weeks ago.
Tight security were sighted at the main gate, entrance to the court premises and the court room.
Presiding Judge, Chief Adepele Ojo, therefore adjourned the matter to Wednesday, March 25 to 31st 2022(except weekend).
