The Great Ife student union on Sunday called out the management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), to allow students who are not ready to observe the mid-semester break to stay in their respective hostel halls.
In a statement made available to Within Nigeria by the Union Public Relations officer, Ogunperi Olalekan (Tao), the union stated their positions and maintained that the mid-semester break “must not be made compulsory for students and only those who wish to observe it should do so”
“The mid-semester break must not be made compulsory for students and, as such, only those who wish to observe it should do so. Students who are not interested in going home should be allowed to stay in their respective Halls without any form of forced eviction or intimidation.
The University Management should however fulfill its obligations towards such students who may not go home for the semester break.” the union said
Recall that the University management through its Registrar, Magaret Omosule, announced a 2-week mid-semester break on Saturday, 26 March 2022. The break will commence today. CONTINUE READING…
