Senior Lecturer Abducted In Edo

Professor M. A. Izibili, a member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, has been kidnapped.

According to reports, the senior lecturer and five others were kidnapped over the weekend in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government of the state.

According to sources, the kidnapped Professor, who teaches at the Department of Philosophy, was on his way back from a wedding celebration in Uromi when he was ambushed and taken into the forest.

It was learned that the kidnappers had previously made contact with the victim’s family, seeking N10 million in ransom.

When contacted by newsmen the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Kontongs Bello confirmed the incident.

According to the PPRO, the command is working hard to ensure that the lecturer is released unhurt.

Similarly, the Chairman, of the University’s ASUU chapter, Cyril Onogbosele, also confirmed the incident, but could not give details. CONTINUE READING…
