Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo of the Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has reserved the ruling on the bail application filed by Rahmon Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotel and Resorts, in the ongoing court trial over the mysterious death of Timothy Adegoke, an MBA student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
After reserving the ruling, Adepele-Ojo also notified all the counsel present, both for the prosecution and the defendants, that the case would commence on Monday.
Adedoyin and six other staff of the hotel, who were charged with Adegoke’s murder, were conspicuously absent from the proceedings.
Matthew Omosun, counsel to the prosecution, however confirmed during session that the defendants are being remanded at the Ilesa Prison as ordered by the court on Thursday.
“The judge has, as a matter of fact, told everyone present in court yesterday to expect a speedy trial. This is why I think the trial proper is starting on Monday. We are also confident that justice would be served in the end,” Olugbade Adegoke, elder brother to the deceased, told FIJ after Friday’s session.
Adegoke, an Abuja-based chartered accountant, had travelled to Ile-Ife on November 5, 2021 to write his MBA exams at the OAU Distance Learning Centre. He was declared missing on November 7, 2021. Later, his body was found in a shallow grave at a location very close to Hilton Hotel and Resorts, where he had been accommodated.
