The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it will be holding its National Convention on March 26, 2022.
VAM News reports that the announcement of the new date for the much-anticipated event has overruled its earlier decision to postpone its national convention indefinitely.
It is understood that the new date for the convention was the date earlier slated for the conduct of its zonal congresses across the country.
The party stated that it will begin activities leading to the convention with the conduct of zonal congresses from February 24.
Earlier, it was reported that the ruling party had announced the postponement of the convention slated for Saturday, February 26.
This is as the party has notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that instead of its National Convention, it will be holding zonal congresses first.
The letter to that effect, dated Monday, February 21, 2022, and jointly signed by the chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni, and Secretary of the committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe was addressed to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
APC noted in the letter seen by our correspondent that Monday’s notice supersedes its earlier notice to INEC about the conduct of a National Convention.
It urged the electoral body to send representatives to monitor its zonal congress scheduled to hold on March 26, 2022.
