An Abuja-based human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, should “immediately order the arrest of Abba Kyari and hand him over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in a media display just like other criminals are being treated”.
VAM News reports that Olajengbesi made this demand via his official Facebook page on Monday afternoon.
It would be recalled that Kyari was earlier today declared wanted over cocaine trafficking.
The declaration by the NDLEA comes a few months after the former police intelligence unit commander was indicted in an internet fraud case by a US court.
The court also had declared Kyari wanted to answer allegations of complicity in the $1.1million bribe fraud perpetrated by Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi. This led to his suspension by the Police Service Commission (PSC) from office as a deputy commissioner of police and head of the IRT.
“The reckless criminal audacity of Abba Kyari is scaring!” Olajengbesi said.
“The Inspector General of Police must immediately order the arrest of ABBA Kyari and hand him over to NDLEA in a media display just like other criminals are being treated. This is a demand. Useless people everywhere!”
