Wife Divorces Atiku, Explains Why

Jennifer, one of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s wives, has confirmed her divorce from the Peoples Democratic Party’s former presidential candidate.

The ex-VP’s wife explained in a statement obtained on Tuesday that she did not seek divorce because Atiku married a new wife.

“As many have claimed, His Excellency’s marriage to a new wife was never the root of our problem.”

“His Excellency is a Muslim, and I’ve never questioned him about his wives or intended,” she explained.

Some of Atiku’s friends, she claims, tried to mediate and stop the divorce, but their efforts were futile.

Jennifer stated that “the core reason for the divorce was disagreement over my continued stay in London,” among other issues.

She also claimed that Atiku had asked to collect an asset that had previously been given to her, and that the property in Dubai is currently being litigated.

“During the initial mediation discussion, His Excellency denied that he gifted the house (matrimonial home in Asokoro); even after I showed him the document with the signatures of his aide, His Excellency asked me to give him the deed of gift,” the estranged wife continued.

“When I asked him, where will I and the kids stay when we come to Nigeria?’, he told me that since I am the one who asked for a divorce, I should find somewhere to stay, and then I moved out.

As of the time of filing this report, Atiku had not made any public statements on the matter.

Attempts to get his aides to respond to Jennifer’s claims were also futile.
