Prof. John Olutunde ohu passed on in glory a year ago, 20th January 2021 he was a great icon in the eyes of many and a foundation for many.
In his lifetime, he affected a lot of people in numerous ways, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, in his field of education and his impact will last for a very long time.
Professor John ohu was born in Fiditi , Oyo state on 18th September 1947 to late Pa Opayinka ohu and late madam Juliana ohu. As a boy, he was a bright young chap who through his determination and the help of his parents preserved his way through school to become a professor.
He got married to Mrs Florence Bolanle Ohu in 1975 and the union is blessed with 4 children two doctors and two engineers.
Professor Olutunde ohu was a family man to the core, sacrificing personal comfort most of the time for the growth of his family.
Academic Qualifications
He graduated from the University of Ile Ife in 1975 with a Bachelor in Engineering, he had his masters from Cranfield institute of technology in Bedford England, and a PhD from McGill University Canada.
However, he was a professor of soil and water engineering at the University of Maiduguri for 41 years producing vice Chancellors and even the present governor of Borno state His Excellency Professor Babagana Zulum.
He retired from the University of Maiduguri in 2017 at age 70 and was on contract as a Director until his demise.

While describing John Olutunde; the wife, Mrs Ohu revealed that the family has lost a caring and loving father, husband and grandfather.
“You made your mark as a devoted, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather… Rest in glory!, She said.
