After appeal from the leadership of the Students’ Union Government of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), the management has reduced the N20,000 reparation fee earlier charged of returning students, have now been pegged at N10000.
AAUA management resolved to reduce the fee after a high powered meeting on Tuesday.
The reduction became imperative after the Students went on rampage last year, destroying properties of the institution.
At the meeting held under the auspices of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, the following resolutions were arrived at:
>The reparation fee earlier pegged to the tune of #20, 000 per student has now been reduced to #10,000. However, physically impaired students will be exempted from paying the reparation fee.
>Against the earlier decision of the management that all students must pay their tuition fee upto current session before they can be eligible to sit for examination, after a very long appeal by the Students’ union, the university management agreed that only students who have paid upto last session would be allowed to sit for the examinations. For instance, a 400 level Student must have cleared their tuition upto 300 Level.
>Finally, the university management warned that such violent protest and deliberate destruction of the university facilities should never repeat itself again.
The Vice Chancellor urged the Students’ Union Executives to appeal to the students to work together positively for the benefit of the university.
