43 days after, the illegal detention of Dr Ramon Adedoyin after a federal high court in Abuja had ruled that Adedoyin should be released for medical reasons. But surprisingly for over three weeks now of the verdict, the police has not release the Dr Adedoyin for medical attention which make his health status to be deteriorating everyday due to high blood pressure and diabetes which his nursing.
It will be recalled that Adedoyin’s lawyer, Mr Uriah Lawal, has described the detention of his client by the police as a flagrant abuse of his right and disobedience of a court order that he should be granted access to medical facilities in view of his health condition.
Adedoyin who was arrested on November 15, following the death of a lodger, Timothy Adegoke, an MBA student of Obafemi Awolowo University in Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife.
Why are the police still detain Dr Ramon Adedoyin since the federal high court in Abuja has granted him access to medical facility of his choice pending the hearing and determination of his fundamental human rights enforcement suit on December 9. This action of the Nigeria police is uncalled for, the Nigeria Constitution stated in the 1999 Constitution that once the court has granted bail to a suspected person or the person need medical attention he or she must be released pending the hearing and determination of the court, the action meted at Dr Ramon Adedoyin action is against the Constitution and his fundamental human rights which is right to life, freedom of movement, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, etc.
While carrying out this report, there has been no concrete evidence that Chief Adedoyin is in any way involved in the death of late Adegoke. We expect the police to have concluded their investigation on the matter, especially since they are now in possession of the deceased autopsy report.
Autopsy Report
The autopsy conducted on the corpse claims he had ‘severe trauma’ revealed by the pathologists in the report as the cause of Adegoke’s death.
The autopsy was conducted on November 22 by six experts including three pathologists. Their reports were presented to the Police Headquarters, Abuja with a copy submitted to the Osun State Police Command penultimate Thursday.
The four-hour autopsy, gathered, took place at the Department of Morbid Anatomy, Osun State University Teaching Hospital with all sides, including the bereaved family and their lawyers as well as those of Adedoyin and the police, present.
The process started with the identification of the body by the elder brother of the deceased, Gbade Adegoke.
The autopsy reports, sources revealed, attributed Adegoke’s death to ‘severe trauma’.
And the report reveals that the deceased’s internal and external organs (including the genitalia) were complete, untouched and in their normal positions.
The internal organs like the heart, kidney, livers and others could not be subjected to the test because they were said to be already in advanced decomposition stage.
“The stomach had decomposed and was melting while they were carrying out the test,” a source said.
“Pathologists agreed that no incision, cut or blood injuries, bruises or wound were found on his neck. The deceased suffered no fracture wounds or injuries to his ribs,” one of the reports said.
Police sources told a national newspaper that officials of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Department of the Ife Central Local Government Area buried the corpse after obtaining clearance from the Nigerian Police Force, “A” Division, Moore, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
A medical doctor who does not want his name mentioned described the severe trauma phrase as an open-ended conclusion.
“Trauma could be as a result of marathon sex”, insider source revealed that Timothy Adegoke died of marathon sex with the Hilton receptionist lady.
It would be recalled that Timothy slept at Hilton hotel illegally, “due to the fear of the management not knowing about his illegal stay at Hilton, his lifeless body was taken out of the hotel, also to frustrate police arrest,” source said.
The logical point at this point would have been to either charge him to court or grant him bail but none of this has been done.
In the report, concerned citizens hereby appeal to the police to release Dr Ramon Adedoyin to seek medical attention.
