A former registrar of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Dr Oladele Alhasan Ogunleye, has raised alarm over attempt to assassinate him by unknown gunmen who have been trailing him all around.
Ogunleye called on the Osun state government, the lawmaker representing Oriade state constituency in the Osun state House of Assembly, Hon. Desmond Ojo, the Inspector General of Police to as a matter of urgency rise to safe him from being killed.
The former registrar made this clarion call in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, while speaking with journalists.
Narrates his ordeal on how he was picked up by men of Nigeria police force who came from Lagos state to Osogbo over an allegation which he know nothing about.
He said a warrant of arrest contain two criminal allegations bothering on attempt to assassinate three people in the Polytechnic community. Namely, the Rector, Dr. Taiwo John Adekolawole, Dr Adie Olofu Romanus, Medical Director & Mr Elkanah Adeleke Aruwajoye, Deputy Registrar and Unlawful possession of pump action Gun.
The petition was brought to Adeniji Adele police station in Lagos by one Mr Ifamoroti Ogunsakin who claimed to have entered into a deal with the former registrar to eliminate those individuals.
In the course of investigation, Ogunleye was invited to the office of the Federal SARS at Adenji Adele, Lagos on the 21 August, 2019 and 11 September, 2019 respectively. On the 11th September, 2019 he was led to Alagbon where he underwent finger print examination for the purpose of carrying out REC forensic analysis to investigate the claim of his contact with the pump action. Gun alleged to have emanated from him.
After a thorough investigation by the police, the security men exonerated him having found out the allegation to be false information.
In taking up the matter to ensure he gets to the root of the matter, Ogunleye reported a case of false allegation to the police against him. The accuser who gave his name as Ifamoriti Ogunsakin and his address as No. 7, Okeyo Street, Ejigbo, Osun State.
The police swung into action by investigating the allegation, it was found out that the name and address given by accuser were fake. By stroke of luck, he was eventually arrested, he gave his true name as Rotimi Adekunle Orowole and he has been charged to court on giving police false information.
Asked if he suspect anyone, Ogunleye said among those he suspected is the rector of the institution, Dr. Taiwo John Adekolawole. “Though, the case is already in court but am asking for is that the government should come to mu rescue as men of the underworld are on daily basis trailing me. ”

Ogunleye said since the Rector resumed, he has been acting against the Public Service Rule, “A week after he resumed as rector, the first thing he did was to issued me a query all because I was trying to advise him on how the school should be run.” Ogunleye said.
“As if that was all, he called me to tell me that i did not support his second marriage. Also, he alleged me that I did not support him to become the rector.”
“The rector is crudely and avariciously corrupt by mounting an illegal programme and diverted the fund in to a private account and wanted to use Polytechnic funds to pay the lecturers which I vehemently rejected. He thereafter attempted to bribe me with the sum of N3.5m and procurement of official car which the governing council had earlier approved but refused to implement for me to endorse an illegal MOU, which I turned down.
“I urged the council to investigate the allegation, if it is not true the council should subject me to disciplinary procedure as enshrined in the PSR.”
Reaction from Rector, Dr. Taiwo Adekolawole
Dr Adekolawole said he has nothing to say on this matter.
He said, “Ogunleye should go and answer his case of gun-running and attempted murder he has with police. I have no issue with me.”
