Fuel scarcity hits Zamfara

The scarcity of fuel in Zamfara State has hit many businesses that depend on petrol usage as they now operate on the lowest ebbs.

An investigation carried out by DAILY POST in Gusau, the state capital, indicates that the fuel scarcity has seriously affected motorists and passengers especially in the capital.

According to some motorists who spoke with this medium, only a few filling stations in Gusau have fuel which they said amounted to long queues.

Speaking, a taxi driver, Danladi Musa, said the fees for carrying passengers from Gusau to Tsafe town, which used to be N200, has been increased to N350 due to the scarcity of fuel rocking the state.

“But there is no notification from the NNPC that the price of petrol has been increased neither has the corporation reduced the quantity of fuel being supplied to Zamfara state. Then why is the scarcity of fuel?” He asked.

Danladi said that many commercial motorcycle riders and motorists now come to Gusau to buy fuel for their daily operations since all filling stations in most local government areas of the state have been closed by the government due to banditry.

It could be recalled that the state government came out with security measures that allowed only the filling stations in Gusau to operate while all the filling stations in other areas were closed except in a few selected local governments of the state.
