Abdulrahman Musa, the head of the electrical engineering unit of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Lagos, has been found dead.
According to report, Musa, a 51-year-old father of four, left his residence located in Agege area of the state, on October 31 for his farm in Ogun state.
But he did not return home to his family and was found dead at Alaramino canal in Lagos on November 4.
Narrating the incident to TheCable on Saturday, Nuhu Momoh, the deceased’s nephew, said he was called via the telephone by Musa’s wife on Sunday evening that her husband had not come home and that his two telephone lines were switched off.
Momoh said he dismissed the worry of the deceased’s wife because he believed that his uncle would return home later in the day.
He said the family began to search for the deceased on Monday after he did not come home on Sunday evening.
The deceased’s nephew said after a series of search in some places in Lagos, the late Musa’s car was found along Old Abeokuta road beside Bola Event Centre at Ifako-Ijaiye.
He said he noticed that one part of the car was inside the gutter, while the other part was on the main road.
After finding the deceased’s car, he said witnesses told him what happened to the car and the owner on Sunday evening.
“We began to find traces of his movement and we found his car. It fell into a gutter somewhere along Old Abeokuta road beside Bola Event Centre, Abattoir along Abule Egba,” he said.
“When we saw the car. The eyewitnesses that saw the incident on Sunday evening came around to see us, saying they thought I’m the man who left the car in the location, yesterday.
“I told them it was my brother. They said they saw what happened that day. You know that the area is full of street urchins who do not have a home.
“They said it was the sound made by the car when it fell that brought them closer to the location. You know I was not there.”
Momoh said the witnesses told him that his uncle left his car at the location and was walking in a direction that leads to his house because it is trekkable distance.
The deceased’s nephew said the matter was reported at the Abattoir police station in Agege for investigation.
FOUND IN A CANAL WITH CUTS ON THE HEAD
Momoh said he was at Ikeja police command headquarters when he got a call from the officer attached to Abattoir police station, who is investigating the case that a body was found in Alaramino canal, on Thursday.
He said when he got to the canal, he employed the services of “area boys” to help bring out the body from the canal.
He said he discovered that there were cuts on the deceased’s head and around his stomach.
He said the deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary and that he would have been buried, according to the Islamic rites, if not that the police are still conducting an autopsy.
He said the deceased’s body will be taken to Abuja on Sunday, and then to Okene, Kogi state, his hometown for burial.
DECEASED’S WIFE DEVASTATED
The deceased’s nephew said Musa’s wife is devastated by the death of her husband and that she would have to take care of the four children he left behind.
He said his uncle did not died of natural causes, and that the late Musa was having some work-related “battles” in FAAN before his death.
