Police debunk reports that it directed its personnel in Kogi going to Anambra for governorship election to pay N10,000 as transport fare
Kogi Police Command has debunked reports that it directed its personnel deployed to Anambra for the November 6 governorship election to pay N10,000 as transport to the state.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by William Anya, the Command’s spokesperson.
He described the report of the alleged transport levy on police personnel for transportation to and from Anambra as false, malicious and mischievous.
“The Command did not request for any amount of money as transport fare for officers deployed for the assignment.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban psc (+), fdc while addressing the Officers deployed for the election stated that, the Police authority is responsible for the transportation of its personnel to and fro Anambra State. The Command is surprised at the false and unfounded report on social media.
The statement added that “the Commissioner of Police urges the public to discountenance such mischievous information, while he ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence investigation into the alleged extortion.
