COVID: Ondo To Bar Unvaccinated Workers From Offices

The government of Ondo state has stated that it will start restricting civil servants who are yet to receive the COVID vaccine from entering into government offices.

This was stated on Wednesday by the permanent secretary of Ondo ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Segun Odusanya at a meeting with staff of the ministry in Akure, the state capital.

Odusanya said the meeting was a follow-up to an earlier meeting with the head of service, who directed that any civil servant not vaccinated by November 1 would not be allowed into any state government office.

He said the presentation of COVID-19 vaccination cards has become a compulsory requirement for civil servants to access their work places.

“The directive would be enforced as from November 1 with compliance to all the COVID-19 protocols by the civil servants in the state,” NAN quoted him as saying.

The permanent secretary also said the enforcement has become necessary due to the effects of the pandemic on the state.

According to him, enforcement is a means of protecting the staff.

He also called on workers to prioritise routine checks on blood pressure, blood sugar, among others.

Ondo joins Edo and Kaduna, where ultimatums have been issued for workers to get vaccinated.

So far, Ondo has recorded 4,537 cases of COVID-19 — including 4,360 recoveries and 98 fatalities.
